About John Barr
John Barr is a poet, Vietnam veteran, and the inaugural president of the Poetry Foundation. His poems range across nature, history, art, war, and the comic predicaments of human ambition.
His work has appeared in The New York Times, Poetry, and other publications. His collection The Boxer of Quirinal was a finalist for the 2024 PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry Collection.
